neepheid
Anyone know where I can obtain some maple dowel suitable for filling in tuner holes (9/16" (approx 14mm) diameter)? Turning a 6 string neck into a 5, at least one has to be filled but I might do all 5 and redrill them all for optimum placing.
clauster
Any decent timber merchant should be able to help.

neepheid
They couldn't help me, but I managed to find some ramin (Gonystylus bancanus) dowelling at an online modelling supplies shop, which is light and plain wood, with hardness comparable to maple. I just remembered that it doesn't matter what wood the dowels are as long as it's hard - I'm covering the face of the headstock with zebrano veneer, and i might as well put some maple veneer on the back, so it will look as if nothing happened - or that's the idea at any rate!
