wateroftyne Posted June 21, 2012 Author Posted June 21, 2012
That screams Gibson to me.
Yip - It was probably Seth Lover's pet project. He was responsible for the 'bucker Tele, too. Quote
Delberthot Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Presumably where Yamaha got the headstock design for the original Blazer basses? Quote

Wil Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Love it. I've always wanted a Starcaster guitar, I love the tone Johnny Greenwood gets from his, and I think they look the sex. Quote
LukeFRC Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I saw one of them for sale a few years back, it was pretty cheap, like under £1000 I think Quote
Chris Horton Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 I have never seen these bass guitars before It's a mad bass It's a kind of fender jazz roadster corado type of thing Quote
cloudburst Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Only 2 still remain in existence? Owner number 1 please donate to Fender museum. Owner number 2 please buy a pack of matches and do the decent thing. CB Quote
benebass Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 (edited) I quite like them - here's one in action: - I was quite surprised to find out the headless bass was another Fender first (not Leo though): - http://www.vintagegu...-headless-bass/ Understand why it never made it to production!
Away with you, naysayers! Burning basses? It's a sin! This is possibly the nicest looking Fender bass of all time. I'm pretty far from being rich enough to even consider it though Quote

I believe Norman Houlder from the Hayman/Shergold factory was experimenting with headless designs in the 70's as well. One of his employees, a young Rob Green. Edited June 21, 2012 by GeeCee Quote
el borracho Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Keith Richards - Expo 92!! I videoed this and watched it when I got in from the pub. My main memory is watching him do a great version of Freddie King's 'Going Down'. I was also rather taken by the bass and was pausing it to try and see what the bass was - pre-internet remember! I eventually saw that it was a Fender and decided that I wanted one. Needless to say it didn't happen Quote

Don't know much about the early days of Status - would love to see some pics of any early prototypes. Quote
Lozz196 Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Ha, as a die-hard Fender-lover, I was going to say Fenders rarest bass - one that was put together properly (before all the Fender Haters steam in with similar abuse ) Quote
4 Strings Posted June 21, 2012 Posted June 21, 2012 Not sure about only two being made, there's a pic or two of these in an old book I have, pretty sure its that fish looking grey burst West Indian beach finish. Pretty sure there's 1 and 2 pup options too. This one looks pale and the one with Keef is a redder colour, so there's three. I'll have a look at the book when I can . Quote
