As for sustain...I guess it depends on what music your playing. I do sustain notes in my main band but not always for a very long time. At home generally the music I play won't have too much of a gap between notes so my primary is attack, not sustain, and as someone pointed out too much makes it ring out like mad...harmonic resonance becomes your enemy. Not actually paid much attention to watching the vid because I use totally different technique to do sustained notes, plus he tends to pull the sort of faces I try and avoid seeing in other sorts of movie. [/quote] I have a theory that Bass players pull that face to make everyone believe that the b*ll*cks they're aimlessly noodling is actually brilliant and meaningful. [/quote] There are videos on YouTube showing how to make your own sustainiac. Though I haven't seen one for Bass and don't know if you could build one string enough to move Bass strings. Be interesting to look into it though. Depending on how much work goes into building the circuit I may give it a try, I have the ideal Bass to try it on too.
