The Dark Lord
Someone just down the road from me has listed the absolute standard by which all basses should be judged. Interesting to see how much this goes for - as it will be a good reflection of the current state of the market. If one of these doesn't sell for a decent price, then nothing will. LukeFRC
except going against him is the fact that they have "upgraded" the american standard twice since that was made. why not see if he wants to sell it on here? BarnacleBob
Have been keeping an eye on US precisions on t'Bay ever since Evil Undead posted his luvverly 2011 white/maple one in the porn section. A couple of basses v similar went for 460 and 480 last week. Mint one with case candy, amp and pedal didn't even get a bid at 750. I am one of these evil people who 'watch' loads of stuff stuff just out of curiosity. BB
The Dark Lord
About £500 for a USA standard in a mainstream colour (black, white, sunburst) is very good shopping indeed. It's hard to sell at the moment .... but it is VERY good to buy.
The Dark Lord
There you go. £558 is all you need for a seat at the top table of bass playing.
karlfer
Frightening isn't it. I may need to sell my 2004 S1 Black, black, maple soon. Simply won't let it go for less than £650, so may have to send the Mrs to swing her handbag at the docks .
Muzz
About par for the course at the moment, really - a possibly-seven year old dinged P-Bass with a damaged case. I've bought for less (and more) and sold for a bit more, but every one I've had has been in better nick. There's good Precisions and bad ones, too, and I think people factor that in when buying sight unseen from EBay. You can get a bass of at least equal quality (does that mean 'top table'?) from Warwick for a good chunk less these days, which is even more depressing. [/quote] And there you have it. Bought a few basses on t'Bay, dropped up to £700 untried and got away with it but oddly enough sold them all at some point and didn't lose anything - the only two basses I have kept are the two i tried extensively before i bought 'em.
