Just entered this, looks like it might be fun and there doesn't seem to be anyone flying the flag

I would reiterate what the Hopkins bloke says. Stiffening rods in a quarter wenge neck would be uber overkill. You could end up not being able to straighten it should there be any natural bow in the wood. The truss rod wont touch it if you know what i mean. Just another opinion though. Good luck with the build man.

That's animal cruelty :P

The rules do state a maximum of 3 woods. I wonder how many entries will be made from a single type.

I wonder if you could get away with using the same "species" of wood again and again.

Macassar Ebony
Ebony
Pale Moon Ebony

Does that still count as 1 wood? :P

Somebody raised that point regarding maple....sugar maple, quilted, flamed etc and the moderator said they must look like they came from the same tree so I imagine different types of ebony would count as different species........I wonder if they'd allow different colours of perspex though?

I thought about an aluminium topped P bass though. I've got a half finished Variax conversion which is a Sapele thinline telecaster with an aluminium top and fake pickups and I think it will look cool. Like those Nik Page guitars....check out this link to Lemmy's new toy
