hi there, iv put a precision pickup on my double bass mounted at end of fingerboard , two wires from pickup th the jack socket but theres a loud earth type buzz when plugged in. i v put a short cable from inside the barrell of the input jack (the jack cable holds it in place) and the other end going to, and wrapped around the E string on the tail side of the bridge , and this seems to stop the buzzing , what am i doing wrong .
cheers for any help, jimmy.

The wires between the pickup and the socket need to be screened and earthed. On a P bass where this pick up would normally be the wires round in the control cavity which is either lined with conductive paint or foil and connected to earth.

what would be the best way for me to do that mate ? the wires im using are well screened , is there any better way for me to earth it rather than what im doing, i.e. its just jammed in the input jack . cheers .
