I'd like to build a rePlica as I'm unlikely ever to buy the real thing.
Can you please tell me if
What colour the scratch plate is supposed to be as standard ?
Is the sunburst two or three tone ?
Where the tugbar is (I think below)
What's on the neck plate ?

Thanks to musky I know what the logo looks like.
Thanks

I have seen a lot of black plates, was that an option then ?
Was yours red or brown tort btw?

Here's a nice '73 that's pretty standard apart from the knobs (and a little hole in the guard where a toggle switch was fitted).

There's a '72 there as well if you need a reference for one with a maple neck :)

How I miss it... :(

'73 is getting towards a transitional time, which is why you might find a few with black guards.

It may yet stay - all part of a longer term re-shuffle plan.

Mostly depends on how the '64P restoration job goes. . .

Nope sorry chaPs, the Bass (colours) Act 1978 says in section 1.1 that all precision basses must be sunburst in colour. Nothing I can do, it's the law

That's not very rock 'n' roll, is it? Where's your spirit of rebellion?? ;)

I've got a 73 P bass (in sunburst, obviously!). It's the one in my profile pic. Let me know if you have any specific questions or want any detailed pics taking.

Yep, it has a black guard. It's the original one, too. As someone said earlier, it's not uncommon to see black guards on P basses from this year.

If you want any detailed pics, let me know.
