but if it gets you a foot in the door, make sure you can back it up.

Not so sure about this one imhe i've never been questioned on my past credits although i guess if it got to a really serious level maybe there would be a few questions asked but i think generally people don't really care enough to check

I've often noticed how musicians over-exaggerate things to make them sound more impressive than they really are.

Whatever happened to good old-fashioned ordinary exaggeration?

I saw Steel Panther at Download - where the drummer was introduced as the best drummer in the band.

I like that one :)

whereas poor old Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles.

edit: Damn you and your goal-hanging, Discreet!

I once spent the night with Dennis Bovell.

I was drunk once (more than once, but once was enough for this) and found myself outside the dressing room where Let Loose were. I proceeded to tell them that "I loved that song you did" (Crazy For You) for which they ever so politely thanked me for and let me go on my way. Nice guys. Can I name drop them next time I'm on stage?

We were bottom of the bill in an outdoor charity gig headlined by Roy Wood. We were looking forward to playing on a big stage, but it turned out this was one of a catalogue of things the promoter thought Mr Wood wouldn't like. So we were relegated to a gazebo at one side. To add insult to injury, they showed an England world cup match on a screen in the beer tent while we were playing.

We have nevertheless played on the same bill as Roy Wood.

Wow.

He was, however, the best drummer on Thomas the Tank Engine.

"Thomas the Tank Engine rolled in to the station, with a set of 7 stroke rolls followed by a flam paradiddle and finishing up with a tasty swiss army triplet."

At school I was in the same class as Jaz Coleman for five years, at the end of which he asked me to move to London with him 'and form a band'. Fortunately I declined, thus allowing him to achieve some success.

....I saw Keith Chegwin giving someone a cash prize when I was on my paper round once....

Ahh, Cheggers. I saw him perform at the launch of John Peel's Dandelion Records at the ICA.

Peel thought he was great. We gave it 10 seconds, then we went back to the bar.

We're also the (self appointed) official McFly Support Act Support Act, having supported 2 bands who have supported McFly at one point or another. Does that count for anything?

Its not something I'd want to admit to
