Dubs Posted April 23, 2008 Posted April 23, 2008 (edited) Boss CS-3 Compression Sustainer. To coin a phrase, “it does exactly what is says on the tin”. Bought this in 2003 and to be honest a mixture of immaturity and ignorance lead me to buying it as I didn’t really have a clue what it was and what it did. Got it home and used it once in my bedroom and ever since that day it’s been tucked away in its little box. This is as “as new” as could possibly ever be meant by the term. It’s still got that factory smell and the box is in proper mint condish too. Effectively this is actually brand new…but obviously not cos it’s second hand. The damage – I’m asking £35...nope, reduced to £30 including P&P!!! I’ll always be open to trade. I won't give my thoughts as to the standard boss here but it is a huge improvement and makes for cheap quality compression.
Dubs Posted April 26, 2008 Author Posted April 26, 2008 cheers for the advice guys...not sure it's helping my sale though, it does look like a worth while mod in any case
Dubs Posted April 27, 2008 Author Posted April 27, 2008 (edited) ok, what say ye on a price drop to £30 Edited April 27, 2008 by benwhiteuk
Dubs Posted April 28, 2008 Author Posted April 28, 2008 last bump before i buy that mod and have a go at getting used to a compressor
Dubs Posted May 2, 2008 Author Posted May 2, 2008 anyone...? just realised that I actually have no use for this as I use a mild comp on my pod, offer me a swap on something cheap and interesting? £30 posted is a fair price for a totally mint pedal which sells for £40 + £5ish shipping.
Kev Posted May 3, 2008 Posted May 3, 2008 ebay?? if its as new, you could probably advertise it as brand new and get £45 plus shipping if your lucky
thedarxide Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 How well does this work with bass frequencies? Will it give the sort of thump sound on Faith No More's "Epic"?

If I plugged it in now I wouldn’t know what to do with it so I couldn’t judge what it’s really doing. I’m sure others have more experience with it so they might be able to enlighten us... It doesn’t lose anything from the frequency range though, nothing at all that I can tell.
ahpook Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 you could also try www.pedalmods.com - i'm very happy with the work they did on my cs3
Dubs Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 anyone thinking about buying this but worried that it's crap could also buy this ... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=19091 ... from mr.sibs and have yourself a mint and modded CS-3 for the price of a standard new one...tempting ay :brow:
lowhand_mike Posted May 13, 2008 Posted May 13, 2008 helpful bump or ya, if i hadnt just bought the behringer version i would have had it, i really like the beh one and the compression is pretty transparent on that, certainly more punchy. our drummer was very happy as it punched me through moire so he could hear me better. and for £30 for a boss pedal is a steal. hope that helps
Dubs Posted May 16, 2008 Author Posted May 16, 2008 keeping this one at the top... i recken about 50 of my 284 posts have been on bumps
