ash
I have the opportunity to buy an instrument I've always wanted so I am selling on a few of my more eclectic basses. This is a lovely 70s Japanese made Kasuga, it is shall we say somewhat derivative of a well known brand favoured by prog rockers and punks alike and even Macca has given it his famous thumbs aloft. I'm not going to place any pics so not to upset anyone but these can be emailed on request. The bass is in the original natural finish and features an unusual bound maple fingerboard with triangular pearl markers. The neck is bolt on unlike the model it's based on. The body has a checkered binding and features a very powerful bridge pickup with chrome surround and cover plate and a warmer neck pickup. The bridge features an adjustable mute. Can you tell what it is yet? The bass is all original and comes with its old hard shaped case also in excellent condition. When I got the bass it needed some work as an old repair needed looking at - the fingerboard glues had separated possibly when in transit so the board was coming away slightly from the neck. My luthier has made the repair sound again. The second issue was that the volume pots were both cutting out when turned. I replaced one with a spare pot I had knocking around, it's still 'scratchy' but does the job, the second I cleaned but it still cuts out at points so will need a new one at some stage ( original pot included ) again a minor problem. The bass is in excellent cosmetic condition and has only a few minor dings including one at the back of the neck which is behind the first fret. It's a great example of early Japanese bass making and I've been told is quite a collectors piece. I'd like to get back what I paid for it and the repairs so I'd like £285. I'd prefer pickup but will post in the UK if necessary. I'd swap straight for a Wilkes Fretted bass or trade for a Telecaster guitar, Tokai bass, blah, blah....try me. Also interested in a 70s Fender P bass body. Mods if there is a problem with this ad please let me know or edit accordingly as I know there is controversy in some quarters about these oldies. TPTroll
Would you consider a trade for this... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/181223-partscaster-tele/ I know it's advertised at a lower value, but that's only because I'm keen to sell it and no one is buying anything at the moment. It's actual value is actually much higher when you look at the parts - one piece alder body, iron gear bridge pup, fender stock neck pup etc.

karlfer
Can't believe this is still here, especially with that lovely maple board. And with a bolt on neck that can be shimmed!
alfaomega
[b]Hi ash! You don't mind few questions about this MIJ? ash
It is the above bass and I've decided to keep it for now. I played this at a gig recently and really enjoyed how it played and got great comments on its sound. I got a bit negative about the bass because when it arrived it needed some repairs doing and the attitude of the seller was unsupportive and upsetting. Having spent some time and money on it I've bonded with it again for the time being. I'm always open to the temptation of a nice Telecaster though!
