kais58
Hi, I just bought a bass off a friend and they said it's a Westbury 'Les Paul' Bass Guitar however it has no markings on it anywhere apart from on the back it says "Made in Japan" anybody know what it is? Here's a picture: http://sucs.org/~kais58/DSCF5010.JPG Thanks for any help.

kais58
I hope so, if so I just got a bargain, my main concern is that it doesn't say any make anywhere on it.
Dave Vader
If the made in japan is stamped into the neck plate (assuming its a bolt on neck) then it's probably from the matsumoku factory and a very nice bit of kit. They were distributed with a billion different names on them, so brand name is largely not so important with japanese stuff.
kais58
Dave: yeah that's where it's stamped and it is a bolt on neck (I think) , it is in need of some repair, one of the pickups isn't being held in very well I think the screws have pulled through the wood and aren't biting into anything and the chrome has some surface rust on it but I think it was a pretty good buy for £75 with the westbury hard case . Now I just need to learn how to play it...
Dave Vader
75 is a good price for any Jap stuff. Especially with the hard case, score. It's only got 4 strings, how hard can it be? *dons flame proof suit and runs*

Jon (Bassassin) would have known in a flash, Cheers.
