Artoo
Hi, bass maniax! Just to quickly introduce myself (as gently suggested by Steve - hi, Steve! ). Arthur (nick - Kred) 37 y.o., playing bass since around 20. My first album I fell in love with bass guitar was BloodSugarSexMagik. Despite the fact that Flea played Wal on it (which I didn't know then) I loved the sound of bass there and I connected it to RHCP videos with Stingray. I loved the look of it straight away (comparing to Fenders for example). As I'm coming from Poland, I could NEVER afford it back there, but as I live in UK for last 8 years - my dream might come true. I got my Sting about three years ago, and it NEVER disappointed me. Apart from that I love Spectors. That's because of Titus - bassist/vocalist of Polish metal band Acid Drinkers (listen to it, guys, they're cool! Loads of'em on YT), he played white NS2 nearly from the start. And obviously masters as Rex Brown or Mike Inez, to mention a few. To put it together: got my MM, got my Spector (the cheapest Performer4, still good for the price, especially when it goes through Attack Equalizer). I also had some unbranded fretless, JHS copy of Stingray, Aria Pro II MAB 20/5, but - sadly - had to sell them Influences? Flea, Cliff Burton, Jason Newsted, pre-Met Rob Trujillo, Billy Gould, Timmy C., Chi Cheng, Les Claypool, Fieldy, Mark King, Jaco P., John Patitucci, Wes Borland (yeah, I know! ). Bands - RHCP, Faith No More, Melvins, Senser, Tool, Metallica, Deftones, Rollins Band, RATM, Primus, Pantera, Downset, NIN, Fudge Tunnel, Nailbomb, Helmet, SOAD, Down, Snot, Machine Head, Fear Factory, Incubus... So many to include... Also bassplayer for Violent Mouth and Kaloryfer [metal cover band] (both based in Luton). Also - looking for a band looking for a bassist in London (that's where I live now), but I'll try to find the proper thread. Cheers everybody! Silvia Bluejay
Welcome, Arthur, from a fellow heavy rocker (I go even further back than you do into trad territory, and include Sabbath and Priest). Love the Cliff/Jason/Rob triad, do you like David Ellefson of Megadeth too? Rock on metal bro \m/

BassTractor
Hi Arthur, Welcome to BC! I'd never expected that someone would mention Chi Cheng here! Then again, I'd never heard that name. ;^) But I do like you mention Melvins and Tool and lots of others there. Enjoy the site!

Artoo
Thanks for warm words, people!
I'd never expected that someone would mention Chi Cheng here!
Why? Maybe he wasn't the virtuoso, but I love his feeling, groove and energy. Shame he's still in coma, I don't believe he ever comes back onstage...
do you like David Ellefson of Megadeth too?
Yeah, he's good. I don't reaqlly follow Ginger's team , I like some songs though and Ellefson's work is nice. Edited July 1, 2012 by Artoo
BassTractor
Why?
My next sentence explains that: it's a name I never heard. This was my attempt at jokingly saying that I had never heard about Chi Cheng. Sorry to hear he's in a coma though. I'd not joked had I known that. Artoo
Don't be sorry, It's okay, you don't have to know every bassist in the world. By the way - rough demo of my band, Violent Mouth - if anyone's interested: http://soundcloud.com/violent-mouth Bass used for it was my passive Spector, but I always put it through THIS equalizer: http://t0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSmSn7amr2dc1tYH8FpbHYyU5iNStIQQNLDrFLExjyXnldoNpn_h54mQRqa It's an oldschool Polish stomp box, I don't know if it's still being made. Beats any equalizer in my opinion.
