John Schoen
Forming an orderly queue, in for the whip round. Losing a pet is bad enough, I hope we can prevent that you'll have to sell your bass.
Some kind of bulk paypal type thing? I'm not sure but I hope Evil Undead gets to keep her dream bass. Charity begins at home so the saying goes, and I signed up to give £10 a month to the Blue Cross just because they came to my house at an inconvenient time and showed me pictures of puppies in cages. If I can't contribute to someone in need in my own 'community', what am I doing giving to charity full stop?
Evil Undead
You folks really are so kind and generous, but I really can't accept donations. I'm touched by your offers though, truly. For anyone who's curious, Freddie was my favourite pet rat - we formed a special bond as soon as I brought him home as a baby and he was my best friend for his whole life. He was affectionate, intelligent and extremely cute. He developed a brain tumour about a month ago and I spent a lot of time and money figuring out what was wrong and trying to treat him, but I was (obviously) not successful and made the difficult decision to have him put to sleep :'( the hardest thing I ever had to do but he took a turn for the worse in his last two days and I couldn't let him suffer. I now have to find another rat or two to live with his brother, who's very lonely now. Anyway, I know some people will think "he was only a rat" but I loved him more than I ever thought I could love a pet.

megallica
Sorry to hear about your pet Mel, doesn't make any difference what animal it is, they soon become part of your family. I had to have my 12 year old cat put down last month after he developed tumours on his kidneys. I was really upset but the hardest thing for me was breaking the news to my 5 and 2 year old, seeing them cry was heartbreaking. For blood tests, a night in the vets, an x ray and being put down I was charged just over £400...

We've had him 12 years now and his eyes are getting a bit cloudy but he's still going strong despite jumping out of his tank twice (once while we were out!). KiOgon
Doesn't matter if your pet is a rat or a cat, a koi or a canary, a dog or a snake, it's a part of you & when it has to go - it hurts. I hope you can find a way to keep your lovely bass but in the end, it's only wood & strings & things, it won't love you Cheerz, John

Evil Undead
Due to my remaining adult rat getting an ear infection, and the three new babies having chest infections, I'm still looking to trade down on this as I'll soon have another couple of hundred quid to add to the existing vet bill. akabane
I'm truly sorry for your loss - I know the feeling. As others have said I'm in for the whip-round as well, would be great to have something organized. Oh and never, never justify the owning of a nice instrument with the fact that 'you don't need it'. As humans we LOVE nice things, and musicians do create a bond with their instruments, which makes it harder to shift gear around especially when it's for a forced reason. I mean, if I were to apply the same reasoning to me, I wouldn't be worth even a single string on my 6er, could do with a 3 strings bass until I learn some proper stuff. BUT, those are things we gift to ourselves, we're happy about them and proud to own them and play them. That being said, I'm pretty sure you have already made up your mind about this trade (you wouldn't be posting it here if that wasn't the case) and I understand you wouldn't want a chip in, but just imagine, after everything's gone, you could sit down and play some great stuff on that MIA Pbass, relieving your feelings at least a little bit...and that wouldn't be ONLY because you're playing bass. It would also be because you're playing THAT bass. tl;dr: take this as a free bump AND offer for the whip-round
farmer61
I own two Precisions, MIA and a Matt Freeman. The MF wins hands down every time, it's the cheapest bass I have but it's my goto bass for gigging.
Hutton
So sorry to hear about Freddie. I've got a couple of rescue dogs who do nothing but give me love and friendship. After losing my first dog some years ago I now always have pet insurance. It seems a pain in the butt to pay the monthly amount but when a huge unexpected vet bill comes in you just know it's worthwhile. I sincerely hope you can manage to hold on to your Precision. If it's just not possible then all the best for the sale. Basses can often come back to you after a while so keep tabs on where it goes. Also, huge respect for not accepting the whip-round idea. It takes a big person as they say.
