solo4652 Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Folks, What's the going rate for a New Years Eve pub gig, do you reckon? Steve Quote
Hobbayne Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 We are a 4 peice band and are doing it for £1000. Its not too far out and is an early finish (about 12.30) A lot of venues are struggling these days. Quote
BottomE Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 As much as you can get. We got £2000 last year for a 5 piece and have got more and less in the past. Quote
NickH Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 We've got £1500 in the past as a 4-piece. This year we're booked out for £1200 just because we love the people in one of our regular haunts and would rather be paid less for a great party with them than get more from a venue we dislike Quote
Truckstop Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 We're looking at £1,500 minimum for a 5-piece. Reason being I and another band member work in the pub business and we'd need at least £250 each to make it worth travelling out. Otherwise I could just work in the pub and earn £200 anyway and be able to drink with all my buddies. Truckstop Quote
solo4652 Posted July 2, 2012 Author Posted July 2, 2012 Lots of emails between the pub and me today. It would be a new venue for us. As a sort of "try-before-you-buy" I suggested that we did a Friday night gig for £200 and then, if that went well, we could work out a bulk-buy package price for NYE + 4 gigs for 2013. Pub didn't go for this. Effectivelythey were setting up a dutch auction where a number of bands were set against each other for the lowest bid. Stuff that, I thought. Steve Quote

solo4652 Posted July 2, 2012 Author Posted July 2, 2012 Ha! Just as I thought. They're trying the same thing for Christmas eve, and they've been rumbled: http://nwb.co/blog/post/43270/themaltings/lets-see-if-anyone-can-help-me-out-with-this Quote
TRBboy Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 Are all you guys covers bands? We did a 3 hour set last NYE for considerably less....... Quote
crez5150 Posted July 2, 2012 Posted July 2, 2012 There will always be a band that will go out for less you than you..... state your price and stick to it. Quote

bassfunk Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 I always struggle with NYE pricing. Last year we played a casino in Leeds for £1700 (we're a 6 piece) got offered it again in Feb for the same money but it was a bit of a sh*t gig so we turned it down. Now a bar we gig at regularly are asking for a NYE quote. We get paid £350 for a fri night gig normally - we treat bar gigs as free advertising - but as its NYE we're going to have to charge our 'proper' rate, not sure if they're going to go for it though. And I'd rather have a gig than not have one. Quote
bigsmokebass Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 needs to get back in a band lol needs the music and the money money Quote
