I bought this a month ago from German BCer Markus (BC name Bender ). Its a quite wonderful sounding bass in excellent condition but I have come to the conclusion that I simply don't enjoy playing its lined, narrow Jazz-type neck as much as the big old, chunky unlined neck on my Takamine B10 fretless.

Tone wise, it has a piezo and volume control only and sounds warm and organic, close (but not identical) to a DB. BC'er chris_b has played it and thoroughly enjoyed it - and would probably be the proud owner if he wasn't so set on 5 strings.

Looking to get back what I paid, which is £1500. These are rare beasts and this is a good price for one in such good condition. I am in London if you wanted to meet up /collect.

There's a ton of pics on Markus' FS thread here http://basschat.co.u...b%20allen%20mb2

I had the privilege of fondling an MB-2 fretless yesterday and I fell in love with it. So light, yet beautiful sounding and easy to play.

Now on my personal wish list come the glorious day when I can buy things for just ME!

Cheers Phil. Hope all good in Bassgear land! Friday bump :)

Here'a bloke playing a very similar bass to mine:

Here's a "Please don't bring this to Twyford or I'll end up doing a ridiculously generous trade" kind of bump.

Shall I jump in the car now, Phil? mwahahaha

Prefer cash but possible p/x against a 4-string super-Jazz (Sadowsky/Celinder) or a 62RI Jazz in 3TS or a pre-3-bolt 70s Jazz (3TS again) or (are you listening, Keith? :) ) a 1971 P/J fretless! Rosewood necks only

I think I should get over to Twyford to see if there's anything we can do here Phil (I could also potentially do a p/x for a 500W amp)!

I think you should, Clarky. Preferably before you get caught up in the football season.

We've got stuff that's just come in or just coming in that hasn't even made the website yet, so you might find something you like.

There's an immaculate Oly White '62 RI (brand new body and pickups eyc) with your old neck (from the Herbie Rep) heading to BassGear very soon if that would help with trade options at all?

Thanks Barrie but I already have an Oly White 63 P bass.

By way of update, the Rob Allen is being trialled by a. BCer this afternoon so it may or may not still be available by this evening

Just FYI - mine is a J not a P :)

Gutted. My only constellation is there's a gorgeous Veilette 5-string fretless coming in on Tuesday as a commission sale. I've played it before, although it gave me the distinct impression that it was playing itself.
