kevbass Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I discovered this forum when it was called bassworld, I was selling a warwick thumb bass on the gumtree and somebody contacted me and told me to put it up on bassworld.co.uk and when I found it I thought it was ace How did you find this forum? MythSte Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I think it was a google search when i was looking to sell something (shame shame!) This bought up bassworld and i've been here ever sinse! I kid you not, everything i know about bass i've learnt from these forums, and i'd consider myself to be at the higher end of the bass knowladge scale! (im no BFM or Claber like, but yaknow.) Quote

But I was looking for a nice bass forum anyway after being in Ultimate-Guitar for years and seeing the same old tired threads again and again, and being lost and overwhelmed at TB. Quote
ped Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I really can't remember how I started Bassworld version 1. I met Gerard, who at the time was the other administrator, possibly on Talkbass. We chatted over AOL messenger (good times) during 1998 and we set it all up. I used check the new posts on the forum on my WAP nokia phone! Quote
LukeFRC Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 i got confussed as to whatfolk at the statii forum were talking about so came looksey Quote

I knew everyone by their real names!! he he.. kinda impossible now! I have no idea how I found the forum. It may have gotten a mention on TalkBass, or come up in a search engine listings. I spend very little time on TalkBass these days, if at all. T'is the BEST forum on the web! The biggest UK based bass forum too! Quote
queenofthedepths Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I'd just bought an 8-string and I googled it to see if anyone had any information about them - came across a thread on here and the pleasant tone of the discussion struck me so much that I decided to stay... forever! Quote
Hot Tub Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 (edited) I was specifically looking for a UK bass forum, having been not very enamoured with TalkBass. Found Basschat, and have been bringing local property prices down ever since joining waaayyyyy back in February this year! It's what I do. :brow: Edited April 24, 2008 by Astronomer Quote
Buzz Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I was googling for reviews of a bass, I think it was for a T-Bird, not quite sure. Ended up on Bassworld, realised it was a UK bass forum, signed up, went from there. Quote
The Funk Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I was looking for reviews of Dave Hall's pedals before he had a website. Bassworld was the only place on the internet for proper info and reviews of his pedals. Quote
Kiwi Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I typed bassworld into google by mistake. One letter too many. Quote
Dubs Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 + 1 on joining to sell, don't know how I actually found it though. Great community of likeminded people encouraged me to get a bit more involved than using it as a fee free fleabay. Quote
Jono Bolton Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 I was looking for a forum on bass fishing, and accidentally typed basschat.co.uk instead of basschat.com. Quote
gypsymoth Posted April 24, 2008 Posted April 24, 2008 jimi hendricks told me to come here. really. he's in Kent. Quote

I can't remember how I found it - I think I was just looking for a closer to home bass forum than TB, where we could all bitch about how much we pay compared to America! Quote

niceguyhomer Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 I joined a band on bass but couldn't play it - I had 3 weeks and 20 odd songs to learn before the first gig. I was searching frantically on the internet for advice and stumbled upon Bassworld. I haven't done a full day's work since and still can't play the bass. Quote
