Conan
Alan Thompson. He done a guest lecture at my college. Thoroughly nice guy and was brilliant on both bass and guitar.
Danny Thompson plays upright on the majority of John Martyn's albums. Wasn't AT mainly used live instead of John Giblin? Good album although not traditional Yes full of elongated solos. More melodic songs IMO and i do have several Yes albums. xgsjx
It depends what you're wanting to play. Sometimes I listen to Jazz or Funk, other times to house, drum n' bass & dubstep for ideas. I'd say listen to everything you can, including the stuff that doesn't have a bassline.
tallmanmax
All of the above..................it really does depend on what else is happening and how it all fits together. There has been and are some astounding bassist some not yet mentioned. Percy Jones..............the Wal man, the big fella at the back, Mr Anthony Jackson. Jennifer Young, or as I call her Dave La Rue with better hair.
