Nibody
Does anyone have any idea's/pointers/previous experience of organising a one-off charity gig? I had a mad idea the other day, and the more I think about it the more its niggling me. Would love to do a charity gig for the charity "Scotty's Little Soldiers" who work with kids that have lost a parent in the military - was set up by a lady who lost her husband in Afghan. This is all just in my head at the moment - I know I could get my band to play for free, and have a few tenous connections to follow up just need a few pointers/things to think about/watch out for etc etc
JTUK
it is VERY difficult. If it is charity and everything is donated free then there is no argument..but when the hall, P.A, bar, costs, then it might be fair for the band to want exes as well... but it doesn't often happen like this. If you are a popular band you could get asked loads and you spend all summer doing free dates...the better ones round here might do 3 free a year, if that. I think you have a better chance of success if you get EVERYONE to chip in.. I know a few musos who would rather volunteer to donate rather than play free..and it may even be more honest all round that way. Best of luck with it... bertbass
Only an idea but you could just do a normal gig but advertise it as for charity and have volunteers going round with buckets collecting and you could donate some or all of your wages if you felt the need.
