buelljack
When playing certain songs, always song which repeat over and over, Cochise by audioslave (which I play using the E on the A string 7th rather than the 2nd on the D) & Suck my Kiss by the chilli's, I get a painful ache which feels like its inside my forarm, its burns and stops easy, comfortable playing. I have been using one of those power balls for a while and playing the riffs over and over but not getting any better or stronger in my forearm, any suggestions? Maybe just accept and play somewhere else on the board? BJ
Coilte
A few things could be causing your problem. 1. Not warming up properly before playing. 2. Jumping in too soon with fast playing, without giving the hand time to adjust to the task being asked of it. 3. Action on the bass may be too high. 4. Your technique.......make sure the wrist is straight. 5. Gripping the neck too hard and/or pressing down too hard on the strings. 6. The height that you wear the bass. 1 and 2 above are especially important. Do some gentle stretches for five minutes, then warm up SLOWLY on the bass for another five. GonzoBass
Always stretch. Before a set, between songs (if you can), after a set, even when you're not playing... Stretch. I found this site to be quite useful- http://ergocise.com/wrists.html
buelljack
going to give it all a go! anything that will help out, I think the part about going straight to a quick song is right, the 10 mins of warm up is a good point, free everything up and get it nice and supple
