Bass play - a pick or no pick?

Bobby Vega used a pick when he played in Tower Of Power and Sly And The Family Stone. BV said that in TOP he had to use the pick because he couldn't play finger style fast enough to keep up with the bass parts.

So the pick was not an issue to those bands. The only issue was how well Bobby played.

Lessons are way more important than gear.
