stefBclef Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Evening all I have some songs I need to transcribe and I was wondering if anyone knows of a free piece of software that I can use to loop the same section of a track over and over. I found one a while back, but then after a few days it said I need to pay to carry on using it. I'm not one for torrents and hacks etc but if there is an open source program out there intended to be free I would love to hear about it. After spending an hour downloading useless programs I thought it would be best to get a personal recommendation! Or, if anyone thinks this is cheating and wants to give me some tips for transcription I am all ears! I find myself listening to the same passage over and over anyway it just means I have to stop playing bass and start clicking mouse to get it back to the point I want it! Cheeeers Stef Quote
Bilbo Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Transcribe at severnthstring.com. It's about £40 and is marvellous. Yo can slow down the music without changing pitch to 70%, 50% 35% etc and loop sections, even individual notes etc. Highly recommended. Chrismanbass Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 not sure about looping but audacity has the function to slow stuff down without changing the pitch you can find it for windows or mac here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ Quote

vsmith1 Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) I use a Mac app called Neutrino - lets me loop, slow down, change pitch and uses my iTunes library. Edited July 18, 2012 by vsmith1 Quote
cloudburst Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 Or if you want something for the iPhone/iPad - I've started using Anytune Pro HQ which is £10.49 - there's also a free version which seems to do quite a lot too. CB Quote
Commando Jack Posted July 18, 2012 Posted July 18, 2012 You want BestPractice. Open source and does slow down and pitch shifting (independently of course) as well as looping. Quote

KennysFord Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 +1 for Anytune Pro HQ on the ipad. A little pricey as far as Apps go but well worth it I think. Quote

chaypup Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Quicktime slows down, loops and pitch shifts and it's probably already on your Mac. Quote
lowdown Posted July 21, 2012 Posted July 21, 2012 Presonus Studio One V2. It's a basic cut down version of their flagship DAW. It's one of the best for time stretching and pitch shift. Gapless audio, everything on the fly, drag and drop. Dead easy to use. And best of all it's free. http://studioone.presonus.com/free/ Garry Quote
