clashcityrocker
Hey all, have got some second hand vintage modified pick ups for my budget project and there is the usual earth wire which goes underneath bridge, all good, but there is also another random wire with a circular 'screw plate' on the end, anyone know what this is and where it attaches? Also came with a tiny screw for it but this could have been put in my mistake Cheers Si
Andyjr1515
I may be completely wrong, but I think that is a 'spare' earth in case you want to line the cavity with copper foil / conductive paint - you just screw it into the body through the the foil and hey presto, your cavity is earthed. SlapbassSteve
I'm no expert on this but pretty sure my VM Jazz had conductive paint lining the cavity, was a dark grey colour. At least I assume that's why they'd bothered to paint and attach the earth the cavity itself. I think my '08 MiM precision has something similar. Still got the original bridge pickup off the MiM. The looped wire went to the front screw holding it to the bridge, earthing it to the bridge. Possibly same difference though. I may have been remembering the SD Broadcaster pickup I switched it for.
