The forum software does that automatically. :)
Yes, it's the Profanity Filter. Though if you're inventive, you can still say SHlT. :D

Because he's clueless. First rule in guitar repair club is learn the terminology. It's a nut, not a zero fret. It's relief, not concavity. It's plywood, not mahogany.

Priceless.

It's easy to think that he's just naive, but he's been doing this for a while, so he's either to lazy to learn what he's doing properly and to correctly identify components and materials, or he's dishonest and taking advantage of people. If it's the former then perhaps he should read this thread and set about learning properly, to better serve his customers.

He knows full well it's a Kay - probably a Kay K-32. He probably worked it out as he rubbed out the logo from the t/r cover. Giving him the benefit of the doubt that it was removed prior to him getting his murdering mits on it, why has he completely glossed over the light wood (maple ??) slice in the middle of the mahogany sandwich body. Normally he'd be all over a feature like that... but not this time. To recognisable a feature?
I started out on the Precision version of these things. It wasn't wood between the top and bottom pieces, but some kind of filler/glue. Definitely wasn't mahogany either - it was more like Agathis, but probably just some local wood that happened to be cheaply available. The entire thing was made from the same type of wood - it weighed a ton as well.

Just when you think you've seen everything. That it can't get any worse. Seriously, this guy is to guitar repair f*uck ups what Nadia Comaneci was to gymnastics excellence. So, it's ten out of ten from the Scots judge for his sheer lunacy.
it plays as fast and instinctively as one of Knopfler's real strats... well I cannot see how his could be a lot better than this one.
WHAT! Knopflers 62 fiesta red is not a lot better than this......
This strat is based on an Encore model as they have the most consistently excellent fret finishing and leveling... never the sharp fret ends that cut you as you slide up and down... they are just as good as a Fender neck, but people don't like the name on the head as much do they!
Okay, I'm not a fender defender all the time but come on! I played a couple of encores in my time, and they were not even close to consistent.
can I say cock?

This one made me laugh, `Hendrix USA type guitar` he got a lefty strat copy and strung it upside down to play it right handed!..... why? I also like the `as the photo shows i re-strung it with ernie ball strings` well the photo shows a guitar with no strings on just a couple of ernie ball string packets on top of the neck, he could be using any make of string but has a couple of empty ernie ball packets in his shed.

http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2c66fb954b

i also likes how he goes from `guitar fixer` to `guitar improver` to `guitar fixer/improver` to `guitar converter/fixer` to finally `master setter-upper` and `master guitar improver`!

Not him, "last active April 2 2012". He's too busy "gluethiering".
Incidentally he apparently says as there are no guitar setup/repair qualifications he can call himself what he wants...what about Luthier and Guitar making quals? I know Luthiers who have studied 3 years or more...

No, Stuart Sutcliff played a Hofner President
Having absolutely nothing better to do for a minute or two, I shall allow the instinctive pedant inside me a quick run around the block.

Sutcliffe didn't play a President - they hadn't been invented yet. He played a 500/5.

When Selmer got serious about importing Hofners to the UK and Commonwealth (remember the Commonwealth?) they decided the 500/5 needed a makeover.

They left the 500/3 completely unchanged and re-badged it as the Senator, but the 500/5 was given a thinner body (2.5" instead of 3.5") and distinctive "triplet" fret markers before being christened the President.

Now, back to high-quality luthiery and independent guitar design ...

google???

really. why does he sell anything?
That should read 'How does he manage to sell anything?'

I have a mate in London who gets immensely pissed off with this guy, so when I email him I hide this fella's ebay links in parts of the email, pissing him off even more when he clicks on them!
