rogerstodge
Its taken me ages to learn yyz by rush, i had to slow it down with audacity to learn it, when i'd finally nailed it note perfect i tried to play it at the correct speed and it slaughtered me!! . Luckily its not gonna be in our set. Any of you chaps struggle with it?
mep
I have the music for it, but although I really like that era of Rush I can't be bothered to learn it for the hell of it. It would not make our set either. Good for you getting to grips with it. How did we ever manage before digital music?
RichF
every few months I get myself back up to speed with this as an exercise. I have never nailed it. Much easier these days with score and youtube play throughs. I loved the old days with a record player in the bedroom, slowing it down, back and back again. Great fun. Johngh
This one is on my list to learn, I'd like to get it in our set as well. Playing it live will be a different kettle of fish though.
Steve Woodcock
I remember performing this track back when I was at Basstech many years ago as it was part of the 'rock' semester - I indulged my Geddy worship by playing the keyboard part too

geofio
the best way to play it is just to relax with it and not over think it. one of my fav bass lines. i played it way back in the 80,s when i played in a rush tribute band.

SlapbassSteve
Great little warmup exercise this tune! First couple of solo breaks are a nightmare to play note-for-note though, I just tend to go mental with chromatic scales, sounds close enough for me like! XB26354
Blimey... Spot on. Reminds me of the nutter I saw on YouTube playing the bass part to Giant Steps with his left hand and the sax solo with his right on keyboard at the same time. Far too much talent! Bilbo
It's one of those tunes that I feel an emotional pressure to learn so I can say to my peers that I can play it and the learning of which I intellectually know would, in reality, be a waste of precious rehearsal time. You can't learn eveything and have to choose where to focus your efforts and mine are elsewhere. It's a great rock tune, though, and one of Rush's career highlights. Daaa n da da daaa n da da da daaa n n daaa n da da daaaa nn da da da daaa n n ......
