Bass-ic Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Can anyone reccomend a component supplier as I am trying to find a retailer in or around the Bristol Area. Maplin don't do the right equipment and I have tried searching for a local supplier without much luck. I am trying to find a b500k pot and some copper cavity lining tape/material. Thanks for any responses in advance! Cheers Matt Quote
discreet Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 You may be better off sourcing stuff online using Google, eBay, etc. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Guitar-potentiometer-pot-choice-A250k-B250K-A500B-B500K-24mm-dia-tone-volume-/390346202937?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&var=&hash=item5ae2725f39#ht_2572wt_847 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GUITAR-SCREENING-COPPER-TAPE-100mm-x-1m-SHIELDING-PICKUP-CAVITY-CONDUCTIVE-ADHES-/290742528406?pt=UK_Sound_Vision_Other&hash=item43b19ae996#ht_500wt_1092 Quote

LiamPodmore Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 Go online and have a look at CPC. I don't think there's ever been anything that i couldn't find on there. Liam Quote
b500k pot - RS Components? copper cavity lining tape/material - "slug tape" from B&Q or other garden centres - yes really! Quote
BigRedX Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 The slug tape probably won't have conductive adhesive, so you'll need to solder across all the joins, but apart from that it's cheap and good (and normally even cheaper on eBay). Quote
KevB Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 +1 for Axesrus. Been a while since I've done any home mods but when I did use them in the past they were always helpful and prompt in replying to emails. Tried their best to keep carriage costs as loww as possible too. Quote
Never thought about the adhesive needing to be conductive. Guess I was lucky. It made a mahoosive difference to my jazz as it liked to hum along very loudly to any tune I played ....now its silent. Quote
