MacDaddy Posted October 17, 2008 Posted October 17, 2008
A big band arrangement of Spain.
ooh! good luck, the stops and changes IIRC from my younger days, are quite challenging. Having a horn section will help. But back to the OP, for me Back to Black by Amy Winehouse. I did it tonight at an acoustic night on guitar, but the first thing I learned (even though I didn't play it) was the bass line. I am a bassist after all Quote
Bay Splayer Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 you to me are everything - the real thing Quote

chrisba Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 One day like this - Elbow. Possibly the most boring bass line ever, but curiously effective. Quote
lowhand_mike Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 (edited)
Slap IMHO as well, really, what muppet thinks that a pick sounds like slap, really. Timmy C is a great player, and I want his tone lol Zach
his tone i used to have, pretty simple, sting ray 2band natural with maple neck maple fret board, with little else, thoug he has changed basses now i think. but i'm pretty sure thats what he was using on the original record. Sean Posted October 21, 2008 Posted October 21, 2008 Last two days... Jackie Wilson's Lifting Me Higher (or whatever it's called) - one riff all the way through! Fleetwood Mac's Go Your Own Way Kirsty MacColl's New England Sugar Pie Honey Bunch by the Four Tops Nothing challenging there other than actually concentrating on getting them learned for Thursday's rehearsal and not being distracted by that transcription of The Real Me in this month's BGM. Kev Posted October 22, 2008 Posted October 22, 2008 learnt two rage tunes this evening: killing in the name and know your enemy, great lines in both Quote

bassbloke Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Walls of Babylon by Symphony X- just finished it a short while ago. Quite chuffed actually as it only took a couple of hours last night and tonight. I'm going to crack on with the rest of the album. I'm also hankering after a Caparison bass too Quote
Linus27 Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Working on Level 42 - Children Say. Not the hardest bass line in the world although a few odd notes in odd places. Just a great effective bass part that I have loved for years. Quote
lowhand_mike Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 a couple Summer of 69 (dead simple) White Wedding (little confusing arrangement but pretty easy) town called malice (bit tricky) Smooth criminal Alien Ant Farm version. lets rock Smoke on the water. suprisingly harder than i first thought, quite a nice line acutally. Mokl Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Thinking of you, Sister Sledge.... for an audition I've got coming up. Great bass line. Quote
