Marky L Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Merry Xmas - Slade Lovely lovely bass line Satellite Of Love - Lou Reed Yea, simple but I forgot how much I love the tune. Quote
Captain Bassman Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Get Here by Oleta Adams. I doff my cap, with complete creative inferiority, to the mighty Mr Palladino... Also have to learn I Got You (It Bites) and Get The Funk Out (Extreme). Not for a gig but just for the sheer unadulterated pleasure of playing some funk/rock!! Quote

waynepunkdude Posted November 8, 2008 Posted November 8, 2008 ONE STEP BEYOND!!!!!! Great song easy bassline. Quote
nick Posted November 23, 2008 Posted November 23, 2008 After spending what seemed like an eternity working out Abba's 'Dancing Queen' for an unsuccessful local audition, where the band couldn't play it anyway, because they'd forgotten to bring along the backing track(?!) - thought I'd have a crack at 'Forget Me Nots' by Patrice Rushen. What a great, iconic bassline! I found surprisingly easy, considering I'm not really a slapper. My Ibby Blazer with steel rounds nails Freddie Washington's tone nicely. Quote
mwellbass! Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Jimi Hendrix - Izabella Fantastic!...really fun bassline to play Quote
OldGit Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I've got a sax gig in a few weeks playing 20 classic funk tunes and about 8 I've never heard before so I'm learning them all on bass first to get the real feel before working out what I'll play on baritone sax ... "thank you for letting me be myself again" Shack up I got you (not learning that one, it's hard wired ) etc Quote
Toasted Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 I've been playing Grand Funk Railroad tracks. Quote
Sarah5string Posted December 2, 2008 Posted December 2, 2008 Blind man by black stone cherry. Our band's covering it for out next gig. Quote
