johnnylager Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Sound System by Operation Ivy. Raucous, but hard to sing at the same time as me singer has just informed me I will be doing. I bet he's not getting the beers in while I'm doing it either. Quote
The_D Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Well last week it was Longview for my covers band and I am supposed to learn The Enemy: You're not alone but havent had time so just gonna wing it. It doesnt sound to hard so cant see me having any trouble. Quote
Hamster Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 Runaway by Jamiroquai. Why that one? - 'cos it's the easiest! Hamster Quote
acidbass Posted April 27, 2008 Posted April 27, 2008 In the last week of so I've learned/relearned - 'Too Young To Die' - Jamiroquai 'Sir Duke' - Stevie Wonder 'Rio' - Duran Duran Lots of nice muted notes and frantic playing - great for a workout! I think I'll start most of my warmups with one or more of these tunes! Quote

Galilee Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 Spieluhr by Rammstein. We do loads of Rammstein numbers. The basslines are easy/repetitive, but it takes a while to learn the lyrics by heart... Quote
Count Bassy Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 "Pick up the pieces", and "walk this way" before that. Quote
JoeS Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 It was a while ago, but I think it was probably Apocalypse Now and Then by Every Time I Die. Quote
ashgeezer Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 The chase is better than the catch by motorhead. Really simple bassline even for a beginner like me. Quote
Exile252 Posted April 28, 2008 Posted April 28, 2008 I think it was Deftones - Root and 7 Words also by Deftones Quote

This weekend I've learned: Are You Gonna Go My Way - Lenny Kravitz I Disappear - Metallica Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix Cigarettes and Alcohol - Oasis Circles - Incubus Bullet in the Head - Rage Against the Machine Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden my guitarists' suggestions for covers - I turned up for practise today and no-one had learned them Quote

You spend hours listening and re-listening to songs only for the others to either not bother learning them, or worst still, change their minds and suggest other songs for learning... Anyway, rant over. The last song I (and the rest of the band ) learnt was 'Lola' by the Kinks. Quote

Scorchin Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 Justice vs. Simian - We are your friends. A short bass line with variations from the basic notes. Annoying to get right, since it sounds like a lot more is going on than there actually is! Quote
Welshbassist Posted May 1, 2008 Posted May 1, 2008 I learned two really, Lovecats by the Cure, and Scarified by Racer X (not at full tempo though, oh well I'll get there eventually!) Quote
