There's a couple if Zeplin covers I really like:

No Quarter by Crowbar
Dazed And Confused by Cave In

I'll try and get some links up later

I keep getting a message saying I've posted more media files than I'm allowed, is there some way of resetting the counter?
Anyway I was going to post youtube links for;

Stranglers - Walk On By
Vanilla Fudge - You Keep Me Hanging On
Blue Cheer - Summertime Blues

All quite distinct from the original versions!

some of our american friends might say this is bordering on hipster douchebaggery but i think counting crows made a nice cover of this in comparison the plethora of (imho) lame covers of this out there (this has to rank high in the top ten most covered songs )

+1 for Stevie Wonder's version of 'We can work it out'.
Also love his version of 'Blowin in the wind'.

There have been some great covers done by Motown acts, often (IMO) challenging the originals -
'I heard it through the grapevine' by Marvin Gaye (Gladys Knight)
and 'Its all in the game' by the Four Tops (Tommy Edwards). Love 'em.

Ginger Wildheart covered Hocus Pocus on his acoustic tour last year...got a recording of the Birmingham show I was at, but youtube's got a decent video of the Newcastle performance. Cracked me up at the time.

Some great ones here. But for me, the combination of song and visuals is one of the most emotionally wrenching covers ever...

Johhny Cash - "Hurt" (I can't get the embed thing to work...)

And then just for a different take on a classic...

Pattid Smith's take on "Smells like Teen Spirit"

It's because you're only allowed two YouTube clips per post.

There are very few Beatles covers that are better than the original, and this is one of them.
