Paul S Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Taking of Hendrix covers, this a great version of what I consider to be a really weak original - Freedom, covered by Steve Lukather http://youtu.be/jOmgg-1B85A Quote
fumps Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 (edited)
saw them doing Dub Side of the Moon at Wickerman and Sgt Peppers at Koko. Both were great but Dub Side is my favourite.
I was there at the Wickerman......right at the front all the way through . This is my addition http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ucOjx01zwrE Edited July 25, 2012 by fumps Quote

flyfisher Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 (edited) This one, because I remember rushing out to buy the single the day after watching it on OGWT. (skip to 3:10 if you don't want to hear a gushing whispering Bob explain that Lennon's fee for this piece was 4 box of chocolate oliver biscuits ) Edited July 25, 2012 by flyfisher Quote

Can't remember when (you know how it is ). I started going to/playing there at the second one and went to about 8 or so. It was awesome in the early days but I think it's lost a little of it's vibe along the way. Still got loads of mates from up that way so may venture there again next year. Quote
51m0n Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 Dub Nirvana.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I1aEo4SkOWg By far the best version of this song, including the original IMO! Quote
Chris2112 Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012
some of our american friends might say this is bordering on hipster douchebaggery but i think counting crows made a nice cover of this in comparison the plethora of (imho) lame covers of this out there (this has to rank high in the top ten most covered songs )
That has to be one of the most awful covers. No energy, just the most lazy, cynical cash in ever by a bunch of talentless hacks. The best cover of the song is, frankly, by Joni herself from the Shine album. When this record came out I worked in a hotel and some guests had the record as the soundtrack for their wedding. Absolutely blew me away, one of the best days I ever worked there. In fact, I much prefer this cover to the original as it has so many layers of sound and such a bouncy feel. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRN6J16qVVM&feature=related Quote

GarethFlatlands Posted July 25, 2012 Posted July 25, 2012 No-one mentioned Sun Kil Moon yet? Plenty to choose from but here's 2 for starters.
