Rim Basses Marseer Custom 8 String

Hi All!!!!!!!!!
Just thought I would let you know about the Marseer 8 that is being built by Robbie at Rim Custom Basses,

Spec,
Black Limba body core with a Myrtle wood cap front and back,
35" scale 7piece Black Limba/Wenge neck with a Ziricote fretboard,

Audere "Z" mode 3 band pre with a Delano Custom quad coil Music Man pick-up!!!!!!!!
Hardware by Hipshot who else!

Very nice mate, I assume it's a single core 8 string bass, i.e. an ERB?
How's it going to be tuned?...

Yes its a single core 8 ERB its going to be using the tuning of F# to F.

I would appreciate any sensible thoughts or comments on the three neck options!!!!!!!!!

I prefer the first of the three options. The maple is a good contrast from both the limba and the wedge, so makes an ideal 'seperator' between the two. The addition of the ebony is a serves no real purpose other than to make it look a bit more cluttered IMO.

After much discussion with Robbie I have decided to go with just Maple veneers in the neck

Custom Delano pickup has been ordered along with the Hipshot hardware.

Fingerboard has gone to Haydn Williams for fret slots to be cut etc.

I received these pictures from Robbie last night of the neck template with the revised headstock!

The headstock has been shortened slightly and the sides have been curved compared to the one in the previous pictures what do you think???

I am seriously considering going from a 7 to and 8. I already have 7s with both a low F# and a high F. What type of music do you play Captain?

Hi I would say the music I'm really enjoying and playing at the moment is progressive metal eg Dream Theater but I must admit I like most types of music as long as it has a good bass line it works for me.
But still a soul boy at heart!!!!!!!!!!!!
