rk7 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Oh man, that is a lovely bass. All through this build I've been trying to visualise the finished instrument, but I can't. I have no experience of 8 string basses. In any case, its gonna be a beaut! You have the patience of a saint, Captain. Cap doffed! RK Quote
captainhaddock Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Cheers mate, I have a rough mental picture of the bass! But it seems to change every time I talk to Robbie as we keep bouncing ideas off each other and the build takes a new direction! I feel that the finished product is going to be well worth the wait and Robbie is such a great bloke to deal with. No I've never had any experience with a 8string either, only 4&6 stringer's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quote
rk7 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Its good that you have a good relationship with Robbie. It helps a lot. I was really lucky to hook up with Martin at Overwater for my build. BTW, I visited Williams Guitars yesterday (with Martin) and was very taken with the Jazz that Haydn has just finished. Haydn is a top guy too, and an absolute master luthier. Hmmmm. RK Quote
sprocket123 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Oh , looks great ! That bass will weight a ton ! But will have lots of sustain & headroom ! Keep it on . Quote
captainhaddock Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Cheers guys! Yeah Haydn certainly produces some lovely instruments, The marseer should not be be as heavy as you think the body is actually smaller than it looks! Quote
sprocket123 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Ah ok , it looks like it s a large body , maybe because it s an 8 stringer . Quote
captainhaddock Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Its basically a slightly widened Marseer 6 body. It will probably be a similar weight to my Yamaha trb 1006 if not a bit lighter!!!!!! Quote
captainhaddock Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 I have some more pictures who wants to see them????????? Quote
