Sman1992 Posted July 31, 2012 Posted July 31, 2012 I've been playing slap and pop bass now for about three weeks and when playing through my amp i can hear other strings playing out and i know for sure im not hitting them as well as ive tried go slow and not touching any other string. Is there anything I can do about this as its really starting to piss me off. Cheers. Quote

MiltyG565 Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 i think because the whole tone of the bass comes from air inside the timber vibrating, it will eventually cause the other strings to vibrate a bit as the whole bass moves, not just the strings you hit. the only thing you can do is learn how to mute them while slapping. sometimes i mute the E and A strings with the bottom of my right hand, and the higher strings with my left hand.
