pete.young Posted August 1, 2012 Posted August 1, 2012 Since the Blog links appeared on the homepage, I appear to be suffering from some Character Encoding problems and wondered if anyone else was seeing the same thing. I have Firefox 14, and the basschat server appears to be including a Character Coding of Western(ISO8859-1), which causes the links to display like this: ‘I Was Hitler’s Bassist’ – Part One ‘I Was Hitler’s Bassist’ – Starts Wednesday on the BassChat Blog I can fix this temporarily by manually switching to UTF-8, but it only works on a page-by-page basis. If I set the default to UTF-8, it still happens (which is what makes me think that it's the server sending the ISO8859-1 setting along with the page). If this is indeed what's happening, why doesn't the page include a character set which displays properly under ISO8859-1 and doesnt' require a switch to UTF-8? Quote
pete.young Posted August 6, 2012 Author Posted August 6, 2012 Anyone? By the way, it seems to be happening with IE9 on Windows 7 as well. Quote
Silvia Bluejay Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Firefox 14.0.1 here too, same problem. Been ignoring it so far, can't be bothered to switch coding just for this website... Quote
jackers Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 it's also happening to me on safari 5.1.7 on my mac. Quote
Hamster Posted August 7, 2012 Posted August 7, 2012 Yep - same on windows 7 / Chrome. I'll tell our resident spannerman. Quote
steve-bbb Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 (edited) yes to all the above plus my quoted profile name has now gone from steve-bbb to steve-bbb edit - XP fully sp'd up with firefox 14.0.1 Edited August 22, 2012 by steve-bbb Quote
51m0n Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 Because the pages are not encoded in the same charset as the server says.... Something is going to have to give Quote
