Hi guys,

Totally original Musician bass in the lovely pearl white, in great nic with a couple of odd marks here and there as you would expect from a 20 plus year old bass, but nothing detrimental.

It also has it's original hard case in good order.

You all know about these, superbly made basses, all top quality woods and components, incredibly versatile and very collectable, these instruments were over a £1000 over twenty years ago, and good examples are getting thinner on the ground.

I will post some pics later tonight, in the meantime here is a pic of one.

Cheers

???? This is the only bass I that ever bought brand new, £240 from Hessey’s of Liverpool in 1979. Had to live off beans on toast and pot noodles for an entire year to afford it, but it was worth the mild dose of scurvy. I guess that’s at least a grand in today’s money, mind.
Utterly brilliant bass, about the best you could get at the time short of an Alembic series 1 – contemporary Wals, MM’s, Kramers, Arias etc included. This one should be nicely played in by now.

Wow, sounds like a heck of a deal you had! I have always been told these were mega expensive and I have just dug up an old 80's us price list which shows it around 7-800 dollars mark, which usually translates £1 - $1 as it does these days, very rough calculation, but I stand corrected.

But you will struggle to better the quality of these instruments.

Cheers for the input though
When I bought my first proper bass in 1980 they did 3 models, Roadster, Studio and Musician. I got a Roadster RS924 for about £250. The Studio ST924 was about £500 and the MC924 was about £700.
• 1 year later...

Just to add to the pricing debate, I bought a white mc924 fretted one in early 1984 from scheerers in Leeds, I was too awestruck and nieve to bargain them down from the £428 price tag.
Its been ok for a while, but I now play a 1981/3 Fender P (wide neck one 45mm nut) which cuts the mustard, and would have been cheaper to get a new P in 1984!!!

The fretless does look like it's had its fingerboard replaced at some point. The fretless MC940 had small position markers on the treble side of the fretboard, and the fretted MC924 had dot position markers in their regular positions. I don't see either on yours. Or ar the tiny markers hidden underneath the G-string?
