I know he uses a black shuker now.
I vaguely remember an interview where he said he karate chopped it into pieces by accident, although I might have made that up.
I believe it was broken when the band's equipment was attacked by the Raggare (Rockabilly types who didn't like punk) in Sweden. It was repaired-his Shuker is based on the best bits of that one and his black Precision, I'm fairly sure it still exists. He broke his Yamaha when he thumped it, as he still does with his Shuker, but that was built to take it!

Kesh
I just built a Fuzz Face variant, and got an incredibly good peaches sound, by accident. So maybe he used one of those. Edited September 4, 2012 by Kesh
Mr. Foxen
The Sansamp Leeds pedal probably goes there, I've not aimed for it on purpose, but it heads that way during my fiddling.

lojo
Been practising a stranglers song the last few nights, and through my pf 500 with headphones it sounds very authentic (p bass almost full treble and pick) but I imagine when I go to the band run through with a cab it wont sound as good. Mr Fretbuzz
Shoved my grade 3 aside , got the TAB for Peaches and mucked about for an hour..it sounded ok with the trebble rolled off, bass boost, full compression and full overdrive.... Problem was I couldn't count the riff repetitions.... How do you manage that, my mind wondered every now and again, forgot which rep I was in , and then missed the next type of riff :-(. Didn't get it right to the end once but it was about 5 minutes of riff reps :-
rogerstodge
I only get it right cos i play it at every gig and i've been listening to it since 1977..
Mr Fretbuzz
Cool..... The number of riffs on songster we're wrong, but the tab on the link above was spot on ... Just couldn't count it .... I haven't got to the 15 rep at the end yet :-D
rogerstodge
Yea it is a weird count like a lot of stranglers songs, you can get cues by listening to the drums for a lot of them, especially live

the_skezz
Peaches is a tricky one, I had to learn the lyrics to know when to change from the verse to the chorus. Fair play to lojo, WoB's bloody tricky during the solo...can never get those runs quite right.

We do that and I get a great sound from my SR505 with Bass and Mid all the way down and the gain all the way up on the Bass Terror. Barefaced with fully functional cone. I'm still working on the bass solo bit in the middle but it's a great track.
