jmch Posted August 10, 2012 Share Posted August 10, 2012 I'm considering buying the Markbass 1x15 Jeff Berlin combo but appreciate that for bigger gigs I'll need an extension cab. Trouble is, for now, I'll have to use one of my current cabs, a Warwick 2x10 400w or Hartke 1x15 which has a rating of only 300w. The combo can chuck out 500w with the addition of an 8 ohm cab - will either of mine cope? (they're both 8 ohm). Thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Lozz196 Posted August 10, 2012 Share Posted August 10, 2012 If the amp puts mout 500 watts at 4 ohms, and has the option of hooking up another cab, this means 250 watts to both the speaker in there, and to the cab connected. So with a 210, 125 watts to each speaker. So either will be fine. The general rule is don`t mix speaker sizes, but let your ears decide. For that money I'd look at the Markbass amps in the FS section on BC, and use one with either or both your current cabs. When you've got that upgrade straight you can upgrade the cabs, again from BC. JTUK Posted August 11, 2012 Share Posted August 11, 2012 If it were me...and I don't know what the JB rig has that is any different.. suspect no tweeters which wouldn't/shouldn't add a premium, to my mind..but I'd get the 102 combo and add another MB 210 underneath. From the OP... either cab should fit as you are very unlikely to run that amp max'ed out..as I doubt the amp could handle that, tbh.. so any decent cab with a rating about 250 watts should be ok...but for the first gigs, I'd be REALLY listening. I say this, as I have had too many cabs struggle over the years so it may well be more a result of that than today's supposed better technology not actually delivering. I've used it twice at gigs and it sounds great, really powerful with my Warwick 2 x 10 cab. Just need to aim for a Mark Bass cab to go with it now... not 100% sure which one would be best? And I agree it us a very good combo, I would add that cab.
