lowdowner
... with showing me how I can check my truss rod tension when I change to different gauge strings? I've not done this before and I'd really like some advice from someone who knows about this kind of thing so I don't ruin my neck! I'm happy to travel (anywhere in gloucestershire, worcestershire, oxfordshire etc.) and will buy you a beer (or whatever) for your troubles... anyone? Mykesbass
If you don't get anyone to help you sooner, I'll be there on the weekend of 8th/9th September. Used to have my own guitar shop, done lots of truss rod tweaking, happy to have a look then if you still need help. Mike

Mykesbass
No problem, and if you're in to cars, come and see me at the Sustainable Transport Expo at the town hall - pre-cursor to a planned alternative powered street race next year (not very rock & roll I know but itr pays the wages)! Leon Transaxle
In the meantime you could have a look through some of the pages here http://www.garywillis.com/pages/bass/bassmanual/ I have the paper version (101 bass tips) and I found that useful.
