Truckstop
I guess this thread just goes to show that to fully appreciate good lyrics, one needs to hear them in the context of the song from which they came. Most of my favourite lyrics are almost gibberish on their own, but in the song they take on so much meaning. I nominate this cheery little ditty from Elbow. The song's about the singers grandad dying: "Disjointed tales that flit between short trousers and a full dress uniform; And he talks of people 10 years gone like I've known them all my life." So much power when you hear them in the context of the song ('Scattered Black n Whites' if you're interested). Also, disappointed no-one's put any Chas n Dave up Truckstop
