Ishibashi

Anyone had any recent dealings with Ishibashi recently? I dealt with them a couple of years back and aside from a little frustration down to language and time difference, the transaction was relatively smooth.

I’ve just bought another bass from them and this time around it’s completely opposite. Very poor communication and five days after payment I’ve still no idea whether the bass has even shipped yet.

I’ve had one e-mail advising it’s holiday season so things may be slower than normal, but a quick search online shows there’s no public holidays on at the moment and hey, it’s 2012...nothing ever really shuts down.

If anyone is in the same boat...

It's easy to forget, because the focus of the international media moves on, but there are still various restrictions in place for businesses based in Japan, even more for the ones trading internationally, since the tsunami of 2011 - on opening hours, haulage, and shipping. That aside, July and August are traditional vacation times, when people try to get out of the likes of Tokyo due to high temperatures and humidity - a situation, no doubt, magnified this year due to the power rationing during peak periods. As for it being 2012, and nothing ever really closing, Ishibashi closes its stores around two hours earlier than it used to.

The Jazz came from Ishibashi last year, the order process seemed a bit strange but it worked fine. If your order has been processed you should get an EMS shipping number. The service might vary between shops, this one came from Shibuya.
Looking at the email chain again, there was a five day gap between the payment and receiving the shipping number.

I made an enquiry about an ESP Navigator a little while back. I received a very prompt reply, and a very detailed description of the bass. Thought it was on the heavy side for me and didn't proceed. But thought the communication was A1. Nice bass too.
