Unwanted advert banners

Now it's nought to do with my web search or cookies, as I have not been looking at Furniture Village or anything remotely related so why is there a banner for Furniture Village on the top?

Because Furniture Village told Google that they want their advert to be shown to people like you - either demographic, or search history, or what-have-you.

Yes fair enough, but I remember Ped saying that he has a way of filtering ads which are related to musical instruments only, I am getting Pizza Hut banners now!

Sadly it's just another example of Google's desire to be as intrusive as possible into one's private life.

I've never understood peoples offence at targeted advertising (and this is in no way a slight on you GW!), to be honest, how often do you click on an ad that might be relevant to you anyway? I can count on one hand the amount of ads that I've purposely clicked on in my internet using lifetime!

Pop-ups, now that's another matter entirely

I use Google Chrome's ad blocker so don't get anything but bizarrely got the local "ladies" one via the work computer. Not sure I'd be taking any of them home to meet my Mum though
