Herbie The Rad Dorklift
This possible? OK? I've been emailing Markbass, and they say it's not recommended, but I don't know why. Yes, the Tube 500 is 500w, but only at 4ohms. I'd be running it through the New York 112 at 8ohms, therefore the amp would only be kicking out 300w (the cab can handle 400w) Is this not OK? I really don't want to get the Traveller cab. Thanks.
fretmeister
Weird! The maths seem fine to me!
patch006
Why would it not be alright????
nottswarwick
Be fine. Might not sound as good as some other 112 cabs but perfectly safe I would say.

jaydentaku
What exactly did they say?
Herbie The Rad Dorklift
"It's not actually on our list of recommended cabs for that head - but it could work for you if you were careful, but I suspect that its 400w peak handling which is pretty narrow margin of error - especially if you use EQ or effects one day or push things to 10. That cab is really designed to pair with the LMK 250 "
Musicman20
That's ridiculous! The cab is made to pair with the 500W combo which is the same power as the LMTube!
Sibob
They must not feel much about their cabs, they mention 400w peak, I assume from the Amp at 8ohms, are they suggesting that if the Cab has a number of peaked signal instances, it will crap out? Bearing in mind that would require you to run your amp fairly flat out...which most don't. Standard Amp, Standard Cab, will work fine together if used moderately. Herbie The Rad Dorklift
At the moment I run my 300w cmd 121p at half volume, half gain. I presume id be doing the same with the head and can (300w again)
