ead
Apologies if I'm slow on this but I couldn't find this particular page referenced on BC. If you click on Bass and then type in the model number it gives you interesting (to some maybe) info about production dates, original RRP etc. A bit different to the serial number look up sites and useful when you get given 3 or 4 possible years of maunfacture. BigRedX
Except it won't acknowledge the existence of the only Yamaha bass I own... Generally I find the Japanese version more useful since it allows you to browse and has photos of most of the instruments. steve-bbb
maybe the americans only list serial numbers imported/sold in US - mine is a korean trb1004 and is not on there either and the japanese site doesnt list anything below the trb1005
Agreed on the usability and pics but it's far from complete also. Many BBs are missing - BB300, BB350F, BB450, BB1100s to name but a few that I can think of off the top of my head. The American site at least is aware of all these models, even if it is a little stingy with the detail.
I think the Japanese version is only discontinued models (although it doesn't appear to have been updated since I first discovered it). The US site is very inconstant in what it does or doesn't list. Looking at the SBV series it knows about the 500, 550 and 800MF even though only the 500 was available in the US. However it doesn't have the J1, J2 550SL or the BJ 5B...
ead
Couldn't find the bass I was checking out on the Japanese site either. A combination of all sems the best bet!
