tommorichards
I have a dimarzio P copy, and while it reads nothing on the ohm-meter, when wired to an amp, it makes sound and a HORRENDOUS buzzing sound if you touch the poles for one of the pickup (DG side). Anyone know Whassup?
Beer of the Bass
It seems weird, but pickups with a break in the coil (i.e reading infinite on the ohm-meter) can still produce a small amount of output sometimes, along with a lot of hum. I think it's due to the capacitance between the windings, where the broken coil behaves like a coil with a capacitor in series, giving an infinite DC resistance reading and a very low output. I have had this happen to a pickup before.
andyonbass
I have the same problem. Can it be repaired? Mine's a 5 string MM pup but with a bit wider spacing than the Stingray so might be difficult to find a replacement. Sorry for the hijack
