Possibly Spain by Chick Corea.
The toughest part was getting the correct phrasing in the unison line and playing a convincing samba line in the choruses.

Great fun to play!

These have kept me busy for a while and I found them to be quite a bit more challenging than either rythm stick or sir duke..

Hard to play, or hard to keep up? Hardest to play - all the little syncopated bits in Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue and American in Paris, and for hand cramps, Disco Inferno!

"Sample and Hold' from Bruford's Feels Good To Me, the first bass line I ever learnt!!

Onr day I will learn teen town just so I can play it in music stores to show off!

Ah now I'm ok with Sir Duke, but only recently realised its in A flat, not A, which racks up the difficultly level a smidgeon...

Kick ass tune tho.

Tune down then !

Great tune and a great play for Bass.
Original key is B major though.

Teen Town is tough to get up to 128bpm (for me anyway), it seems to be the last 8bpm that trips me up lol
Some of the tunes for my new band are all over the place, challenging but a lot of fun!!

yep hysteria is tough, and i still havent got that downwards progression, hysteria is more of a stamina test. also been trying to learn Undertow by Mr Big but then any of their stuff is going to be nails.

same here, i cant get that down progression but pretty much got the rest, once i trained my hands and arms to take the punishment. Undertow is anotherone our band would like to do but me and the guitarist have got to nail our parts, definately not an easy thing to do

What is Hip, I come back to this every so often and still can't get it right.

At the moment it's that simple octave groove in We are Family - I just can't get this as clean an funky as it needs - but it's such a cool track I will work at it till it is sorted. Well that's unless I get fed up and give up!

I'm okay with dancing over the fretboard but speed is my problem. The little fills that make a tune but outfox me:

slap bit in Carwash
The last bit of the solo in Run to the Hills (around 2:53) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDd-GXkMrJs

Someone mentioned JB's Sex Machine, and thats just timing, as the notes are easy enough in themselves . SM is a not track i have a problem with but HMWYRS took a fair while

16ths over an extended period while swapping frets & strings can be tricky to get it seamless. But in the end, its just practice. I find if i leave it for a few months, the seamlessness just disappears, so its a track you have to keep on top of, if you like it of course, or is one of your band's covers.

Riverboat is one of our bands covers, and i love the bass line. Never had a problem with the repetitiveness

Seems from yesterday that 'Start' (by the Jam) is. Now normally it isn't, but I had a gig the day before yesterday and had really bad sound so I played too hard, and got blisters on my picking fingers, so had to play last nights gig with a pick, and it seems that I can't do it with a pick. After really messing up the beginning I dropped the pick to the ground and continued on my painful blistered fingers, but at least I didn't seem as useless that way!

Oh well, off to tonights gig soon :o

I must admit, I've never tried it, but the slappy bit in "call me Al" sounds well solid ! Maybe someone will tell me it's actually easy. I must look at the tab sometime.

Although when they did it live, he played the whole section including the bit that was reversed. Twice.
