Moves like Jagger synth bass sound budget options

How do I mimick the synth bass on Moves Like Jagger without spending much money.

Depending on what I have with me I'll either play octaves but using thumb and index finger to play two notes at once, I sometimes use a pick and play root - firth - octave chords or use a Boss OC-2

Ive played that track with a big muff Pi. I have the sustain as low as I can get to give a rough kind of synthy sound, the tone knob dialed more towards the bass-y end and the volume as you need.

While it's not perfect, it may give a similar sound to some. It worked for me and no one came up to me and said "hey, you're trying to pass that big muff off as a synth. You should be strung up!"

I just use my ebs OctaBass and it sounds wicked, more like the live version, but, really nice and big!

I managed to get away without having to play this song for too long. Last weekend the dreaded day arrived. I used my MXR Bass Octave Deluxe and my EHX Bassballs. Sounded great and I confess I had fun playing it.
