Ashwood1985 Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 for those who haven't seen them... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=210318625646406&set=a.161943097150626.37513.148172415194361&type=1&permPage=1 What d'all think? I think they look pretty beautiful. But would I own one?? hmmm polarised feelings on that one. I think yes tho :-/ As far as I have seen its an original idea...? Pretty cool stuff either way. Especially seeing as you can order your own choice of finishes/es/es/es/es! (at what cost I don't really want to know: Ignorance is safety in this case lol) Ash Quote
pietruszka Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I think it is extremely well done, but it's not for me, personally I much prefer these; http://www.thomann.de/gb/sandberg_custom_stripe_bass_fl.htm http://www.thomann.de/gb/sandberg_puzzle_panther_tt_fretless.htm I love these two basses so much, and I really wished I had the funds for one. Or both! Dan Quote
charic Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 It's pretty awesome some serious work went into that! Quote

throwoff Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Have to say doesn't this prove what some of us (myself included) believe. Woods mean NOTHING to tone and that it is all in the p/ups and electrics? Quote

Ashwood1985 Posted September 5, 2012 Author Posted September 5, 2012 Agree about the playfulness being a good thing! It certainly ain't snooty lookin' I just appreciate manufacturers sticking their neck out a little with some bold designs. Yeah as bass players we tend to like a few set formats with regards to looks but I appreciate this as something very fresh. Plus I guess it's great for keeping up brand profile as it's got us all talking! Quote
TRBboy Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 I think they just did it for a bit of fun to show SOME of the options that you can choose. There are far more "standard" options with Sandberg than most other manufacturers, without undertaking a full-on custom build. [/quote] I think that woods do make a difference, but that maybe the quality of the wood, and the quality of construction, have a greater impact on tone than the species of wood. Quote
edster Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 Sandbergs are great basses. I love my JM4 but I do believe one could quickly tire of this finish once the novelty wore off. I'd imagine turning up to some gigs with this bass wouldn't go down too well. Quote
Schnozzalee Posted September 5, 2012 Posted September 5, 2012 (edited) I love the jigsaw puzzle panther but not the one in the OP...Also!!! Is Uriah Duffy the only guy that does demos or summit?? he's everywhere!!! Lakland, Marleaux, Sandberg etc Edited September 5, 2012 by Schnozzalee Quote
