witterth Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 You Beat me to it, due to my Sh*te sky broadband. I love that Guys Playing ( a little clip to keep) Pino is the Man! Quote
FlatEric Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 I watched it, as well. What a tone - What feeling! Always imagine Pino and a Precision - playing a Music Man on the clip. Sounded Luvverly!! Quote
andydye Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Can anyone post the clip or a link please cos I can't find it? Quote
witterth Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 The Fretless MM stingray is what he was known for at the time, and he used to "slap it up" a bit too! wouldn't touch a Precision back then. How times change. Quote

For many of us, it's more of a case of "This is all too confusing - what's Pino doing with a fretted precision?". CB Quote
ezbass Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) Thanks for posting this as I would not have known about it. What a legend Pino is and the only player I know who can make a 'Ray look small I saw the man on the No Parlez tour. Edited September 8, 2012 by ezbass Quote
Guest Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Just watched it on iplayer. Thanks for the heads up, great clip. Quote
cloudburst Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Wasn't it great - and oh so surprising to see that the the raison d'etre of the feature was about how Pino and the bassline MADE the song. How strange to see people 'get it' on a mainstream telly programme. CB Quote
paulconnolly Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 That was pretty good wasn't it. Great sound and a great player. Quote

Hat certainly, maybe Alright Now, My Generation and Level42 song of your choosing, but outside of those the bass is probably not noticed, I'd love to be really wrong about that and not giving Joe and Joanne Public enough credit. mep Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 When was it broadcast? I will watch it on iPlayer. Quote

[/quote] Your average non-muso doesnt know what bass is, let alone being able to name a featured bass ... and there's no earthly reason why they should know. Similarly there's many things I couldn't do - I couldn't name or recognise most of the people I hear referred to as celebrities. EDIT: Actually, I don't even recognise many of the bassists or bands referred to on Basschat. Edited September 8, 2012 by EssentialTension Quote
flyfisher Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 25:15 - Pino explaining that he felt embarrassed because he felt it was a bit out of tune, too forward in the mix and "all musician's think they're rubbish". Got to love the very British understatement. Legend. Quote
pietruszka Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 "I can't really read music so I would've had it!" Thats quite encouraging! I've only heard odds and ends of his playing, the stuff he did with Seal was great. Excellent player. Nothing like a bit of british modesty! Dan Quote
jezzaboy Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) Top guy! A guy as talanted as he is yet seems very modest with it. There endeth the lesson for us all. Edited September 8, 2012 by jezzaboy Quote

It's good to get a daily fix of Alex Jones (top bit of totty) and Carrie Grant is a very foxy cougar. Mr. Grant's a lucky guy cuddling up to her every night Quote
mep Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 That was well worth catching up with. I really enjoyed it. Congrats to the BBC and The One Show. Quote
