Whatever is going on?

Pino interviewed on the One Show on Friday by a girl who clearly "gets it" and was picking up on some specific phrasing etc.

Now this morning on Sunday Sequence on Radio Ulster, the reporter (rather than simply ignoring a text from an anorak), read out said text question "ref the new Dallas TV theme tune - why have they replaced the slap bass in the intro with drums instead?"

Crikey. Bass guitar is soon going to be like TCP/IP networking 20 years ago. All of a sudden your girlfriend asks you an "informed" question about something you thought no normal person would have heard of and you think "what?!?".

The "girl" who clearly gets it is a professional singer.

Ha ha . My bad. Although I think there are a lot of pro singers who don't 'get it' either. :-) Is she well known?

there is a slight flaw in your logic <_<

you have assumed that the slap bass versus drum part enquirer to the show was a 'member of public'

by the same logic couldn't we also assume that the aforementioned member of public is a basschat forum member who was covertly posting a sl*p question for the titillation and general amusement of fellow bass players ? ;)

...and she and her husband just happen to be two of the leading vocal coaches in the country. Or is it just an illusion?

At this rate we'll soon see famous bassists being given a country's highest honour in recognition of their contribution to music.

Er, hang on . . . . . http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-19532151

Nope. Nothing in there about him being a bass payer. Think he played piano at the Olympics. ;)

Ha! Fair point - so bass players really are invisible and unknown ;)

Next there will be forums on the Internet where all these new bass players can go into the far end of a fart about all things bass. I'm glad I'm not that uncool...

John Taylor (Nigel ) of Duran Duran was on Loose women this afternoon plugging his new book , he did not actually mention bass guitar during the interview , the loose women seemed more interested in the drugs and sex .
Watched the Pino clip on the one show , great stuff , lovely old fretless Musicman and the delicious Mrs Grant .
