Can smell something burning in my cab !!!?????

Hi.

Anyone's advice would be much appreciated. I run a markbass little mark 3 and mark 102 2 x 10 8 ohm cab. after last nights gig I smelled a strange hot plastic smell from my cab.

I presume something's getting hot in there. I do not have the head cranked , was using a quality speaker cable so bit confused.

Only thing I can think of was that I used my microsynth a bit more at that particular gig and the speakers were definatly sucking air and I had the sub octave high. Could this be it.

Has Anyone had this happen to them ?

Lots of lows will shoot more power at the cab. Is there a tweeter in it? Even if it is off, the attenuator will be handling the power, so it might be that.

Thanks for that. Yeah there is a tweeter , so you think it' may have damaged the tweeter or maybe pushed it a bit too much ? Wasn't a extreme burning smell but more like hot plastic.

Is it a switchable tweeter? Might be te tweeter, but woofers get hot also, if you hit a tweeter hard it makes horrible noise, but if a tweeter is turned down, sometimes something else heats up instead of noise, that is the not a big deal scenario, because you break something you don't use.

Fwiw I've had two markbass amps that smelt like that (heads) for the first several hours of use, even easy bedroom use, then it went away. Dunno if that's any help

A very long time ago I had a funny burning smell in a cab. Turned out to be the driver: he'd dropped a ciggie in the footwell.
